Ministry Update
Current Ministry Update
Over the past year, the student ministry at Calvary has seen some big changes. In 2019, we went to Kiamichi Baptist Assembly camp for the second time, with 8 students. That number seems small but our group has grown exponentially since then. Most of the students that come to Calvary are Hispanic or Caucasian, don’t have wonderful family lives, and have absolutely no clue about who God is or what the Bible says. Over the past 16 weeks, we have completely covered the book of Romans and have had wonderful questions and conversations about it.
It is so enjoyable to see students start connecting the dots between Bible verses, and begin to apply them to their lives. We slowly grew over the semester from 8-12 students per service to around 15-20. We brought 17 students to our local Fields of Faith event, which is a gathering of student ministries from all over the area at a football field sponsored by Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
We celebrated the new year with a church lock-in and was amazed at the 21 students who came to pull an all-nighter with us. We also took that time to do mini surveys with each student about the condition of their spiritual lives.
Long story short, obedience pays off. As I am learning how to be more consistent, personable, and sensitive to what these students need, I am seeing God grow me and them. I am fully leaning on God to grow us even more in 2020 and I am ready to be overwhelmed with His goodness and provision. I want to do this forever.
